Linpus Linux on the Acer Aspire One
The Acer Aspire One mini-laptop uses a Taiwanese Linux distribution called Linpus Linux (http://www.linpus.com is often down, check wikipedia for some info). The UI, though customized, is based on Xfce. For a little bit of an introduction to the device, have a look at Jasper's blog post.
Modified Xfce components
- Thunar: show available disk space
- xfdesktop: heavily modified to provide the big links to startup programs.
- ?Some settings dialogs?
Sources
Note to the xfdesktop developers: the xfdesktop2 program is in a "source" RPM. However, I can't seem to find the actual source code for the binary. Running xfdesktop2 –version
on the Aspire One indicates that it is based off of xfdesktop. If the source for these modifications cannot be found, then this sounds like a GPL violation.
