Easy Tasks

What if you want to contribute but you don't know what? Willing to get involved surely means you are happy about the project, it means you like it and want to help around it. Introduction

Some programs like GVfs hard depend on the 'gnome-mount' utility but Xfce users usually don't have it installed. But Xfce has 'exo-mount' which has similar functionality. The following wrapper script can be used as a drop-in replacement for 'gnome-mount' which simply calls 'exo-mount' with the appropriate command line arguments. It accepts all options but passes only those to 'exo-mount' which are actually supported and ignores the rest.

Testing Xfce

Good software does not stay good all by itself. It needs careful development and testing to keep the quality at high standards.
Many components have unit-tests, to automatically test backend features of libraries and such.

Some tests can be difficult to automate, and still need human interaction. This section describes a set of test-cases that can be manually run on different xfce components to validate if they are working correctly.

Xfwl4 (Xfce's Wayland Compositor) FAQ

Will xfwl4 behave just like xfwm4?

As much as is possible, yes. The holy grail would be if you can't even tell that you're running xfwl4 instead of X11+xfwm4.

In reality, that won't quite be the case. Some desktop environment concepts are just not standardized on Wayland, and aren't implementable. It will take time to achieve feature parity with xfwm4, so some things might be missing for a while. And while I'll do my best, I'm sure I'll make mistakes,…
