This is an old revision of the document!

The applications introduced in this page do not require heavy dependencies and/or fit in the Xfce philosophy of being light on memory usage.

Only some of these applications are part of the xfce project. Here is a list of them. In xfce mailing-lists/irc-channels we only answer questions regarding the applications that are part of the project. You should ask questions that are related to other applications in their own mailing-lists/irc-channels. Applications that are part of the project have an “xfce-project” tag.

How to add new apps?

In short: Just add one (or more) of the above tages (e.g. “email-xfce”) to an application on alternativeto.net

In more details:

  1. Lookup your application on that website or if it does not exist, add it!
  2. Hover over the wrench icon to make the “Actions” menu appear!
  3. Click on “Edit Information” button to make the edit page appear!
  4. Copy the appropriate category name (e.g. email-xfce) from this page and paste it to the “Tags” section in that page!
  5. Click “Save & Done” botton!
In “Edit Information” page, The tags in the “Tags” section should be separated by commas. I've placed a comma after each category name for you. So if you just copy the whole thing and paste it at the begining of the “Tags” section, you'll be fine.
As soon as the “Edit Information” page opens the focus automatically goes to the beginning of tha “Tags” section. So if you just press Ctrl+V, the tag would be placed in the right place.
You can add an application to multiple groups. e.g. “Mirage” exists both in image-viewer-xfce and image-editor-xfce groups
