General

• Re-consider the default NTSC-screeny (just in case we can come up with something better)
  • can we do the nice “Video is currently unavailable” background from youtube? (i know it's slightly animated and stuff…)
• Speed up subtitle-loading by/and jump/ing back 3sec after setting subtitles

    • true, but at the moment it would only hold two menuitems (and I don't see any user-contributed plugins on the horizon, in fact we mostly integrated plugins into core lately ourselves) - simon
  • create a Playlist/Playback menu
    • move Shuffle and Random there from Edit-menu
    • Add controls for the playlist there (via customizable menu-accels people can then set shortcuts easily)
    • Add a “save”-button to save playlists as files (code for that should already be in Parole)

  • Rename “Media” to the more conventional “File”
    • Add preferences there and move plugins to a tab in the preferences dialog
    • A menu should be named for its purpose. Since parole can handle streams, “Media” is more appropriate than “File” - bluesabre

Playlist

• Add (optional?) statusbar that shows the number of items in the playlist
• Add total playtime to playlist
  • Seems hard/impossible for video-files, do-able for audio-files

  • I agree, this is not very widespread behavior. Apart from youtube I can't think of anything on my desktop that's ever behaved like this… - Simon
